Concept

In the middle of the Atlantic and at the base of the largest volcano in Portugal the Volcanic Series are wines from pure volcanic terroir. The soils are rocky and defy the very definition of agricultural soil. By the sea, where nothing else could grow, the grapes ripened as much as the brave Azorean climate allowed.

Tasting Notes

Open ruby color, nose with notes of alcoholic cherry, iodine and clove notes. In the mouth it is fresh, medium texture with plenty of saltiness and fine tannins. It is a Volcanic Red.

Vinification

Manual selective harvest in 20kg baskets, the grapes are selected on a selection table, 30% whole bunch 70% destemmed, fall by gravity into the vat. Spontaneous fermentation and maceration for 25 to 30 days in skins.

Alcohol

11% Vol.

Gastronomy

Fresh, elegant red wine, spicy and saline like few others. Ideal partner for grilled red meat and spicy dishes.

Conservation

Keep at 6-8ºC to be served at 10ºC, and to drink at 12ºC.
